About Us

In 2018, our family, the McAlpine clan, completed our exciting project to build eight luxury self catering lodges, ideally situated on a secluded site a short distance from the thriving seaside town of Stonehaven. We wanted our guests to share the stunning views which the site enjoys from its elevated position above the picturesque bay and the expansive views seaward towards the bustling harbour and Dunnottar Castle.

About Dalriada

Dalriada Luxury Lodges sit on the extreme eastern end of the Highland Boundary Fault, a geological feature that slices diagonally through Scotland from Stonehaven on the east coast to the Isle of Arran on the west coast. Beneath the lodges lies Dalradian rock which formed 480 million years ago during the birth of the Scottish Highlands. The lodges are owned and run by the McAlpine family, who may well be linked to Kenneth MacAlpin, the first Pictish King of Scotland. So you can expect to be treated like royalty when you stay with us!

We believe that self catering means independence and a chance to set your own timetable, but that shouldn’t mean that luxury isn’t an option. Don’t just take our word for it, within our first year we have received 5 star Visit Scotland recognition, a Gold award for Green Tourism and were delighted to be crowned “Best Self Catering Accommodation” in the Aberdeen City and Shire Tourism Awards.
